Finding the Right Therapist

Finding a therapist you feel comfortable with is essential for the process to be beneficial. I encourage you to pay close attention to your level of comfort and openness with me, and I welcome any questions or concerns you may have about my practice and my approach. My hope is that you will feel comfortable enough to be as honest as you can about yourself, your feelings, and with your questions.
I find it helpful to meet for an in-depth consultation, usually one or two initial meetings. This allows me to get to know more about you, and offers you a chance to see what it’s like to talk to me. I will listen carefully so that I can better understand you, and what you would like help with. I will offer you my thoughts about what you’re saying, so that we can develop a dialogue from the very beginning.
If we both feel it’s a good fit, we can set up regular session times. If it seems like another approach or therapist would be more helpful to you, I would be glad to help you with the best options and referrals to help you meet your goals.
